Yes, I know she decided to forgo a run at the Republican nomination for president. And, yes, I’ve read and fully understand her reasoning. In fact, I believe she made the right choice.
But quite incidentally, I wrote and posted a piece on death panels and used her name in the headline because it was relevant to the subject matter.
Within two hours my blog referrals list had a new #5 with a bullet. The Bing search engine produced 96 hits on that one headline alone....and I’m certain it wasn’t because I used the words “Obama lied” in that same headline. I’ve used that phrase before and never noticed any bounce in the search engine referrals.

I have the strong opinion that Sarah Palin will play an extremely important role in determining who the Republican party candidate will be and, further, who the next president of the United States will be. She may have been out of the daily public spotlight for a while, but wherever she goes to deliver a speech or if it’s just a book signing, the lady draws huge crowds of avid supporters.
Some (many?) have written her off; I’m not one of those people. She’s still a much stronger conservative than most of the current class of candidates and all she has to do is drop a hint and the lame-stream media goes wild with excitement.
Dropping out early - and some would say ‘very late’, but we haven’t even reached the state primaries/caucuses yet, so her decision certainly wasn’t ‘very late’ - she may very well have strengthened her hand. All she has to do is decide when to trigger the TEA Party into action and you’ll see millions of her supporters back in the game and anxious for action.
If I had to speculate, it wouldn’t be surprising if she waits until the Republican convention before deciding who she’ll support for the nomination. I think she’s more than willing to let the current candidates hammer each other into the ground and spend small fortunes on the nomination process, and then move in to throw her support to one of those candidates.
The impact of her support at that hour will produce the loudest headlines and shift the conservative bus into high gear for the November elections.
